Oh man, talk about the best of both worlds! Not. I sympathize with my fellow combo-skin strugglers. It can be hard to navigate products when your T-zone functions as an oil well while your cheeks are drier than anything. Or, even more frustrating, you have random dry patches among the oil. Despite how trivial this skin type may seem, there are certain products you can use to master it. Here's our guide to the perfect skincare routine for combination skin.
Start with a Balancing Wash
First off, you'll want to cleanse your face with a product that's able to bring harmony back to your skin. The cleanser should fight blemishes and oil while not aggravating your drier areas. Beauty by Earth's Face Wash is the perfect option for combination skin types. It uses fruit extracts to keep the oil at bay, while still offering nourishment with ingredients like Argan oil and Aloe Vera.
Don't Skip Exfoliation
Exfoliation is an important part of your skincare routine, no matter the skin type. It's like a breath of fresh air for your face as you clear away dead cells and other build up. But, that doesn't mean go ham with just any old scrub. If you've got combination skin, you want to use one that's gentle, so as to not worsen the parts of your skin that are drier. At the same time, it should have enough oopmh to get rid of the excess oil or blemishes. Our facial scrub combines clarifying super fruits and chlorophyll with nutritious Aloe Vera, Vitamin E, and vegetable glycerin, among other ingredients. You'll find your T-zone managed without any tight, stripped skin in other areas.
Use a Moisturizer That Can Hold its Own Against Oil
Just because you have combo-skin doesn't mean you can skip this important step! (Or only apply moisturizer to the dry areas.) Your complexion, as a whole, is craving moisture. Instead, use a moisturizer that's formulated for oily skin. BBE's Oil-Control Moisturizer finds the perfect balance of oil-managing ingredients with more enriching ones. Your combination skin will be happier and healthier.
A Mask Every Now and Then Will Keep Things in Line
Face masks are one of my favorite self-care activities. Finding the perfect one for combination skin, though, can take a minute. In my experience, they're either too hydrating or wayyy too clarifying. That was until I started using our Hydrating Face Mask. (Harmonious music swells) It was the first clay mask that could take care of my oily T-zone and problem skin without depriving the other parched parts of needed moisture. Every time I use it I'm left with clean, yet supple skin.
Don't Forget Your Under Eyes
Between lack of sleep, aging, allergies, and beyond, eye cream is a staple in any routine. For my combo-skin friends, your best match is one that is non-greasy but still garners hydration. You've probably gathered that theme from everything else we've already touched on, though. BBE's Eye Cream brightens circles and de-puffs with coffee bean extract while boosting hydration with oils and butters.
You see? Skincare routines for combination skin don't need to be super complicated. All you need is a line up of trusty products that can offer that sweet spot for the many states of your skin.
To my combo-skin friends, like myself, out there, godspeed.
