The Best Natural Beauty Books for 2019

ESTIMATE 5-MINUTES READ

We've rounded up the absolute best books on natural beauty and skincare of the year!

It's that time of the year. The temperature dropsā€”and with it, my willingness to brave the unrelenting cold. (Of course, to you Northerners, I may be exaggerating from here in Texas) Don't get me wrong, I'm all about the festivities of Winter, so long as I'm holed up indoors in the vicinity of central heating. Almost instinctually, I construct my nest of fuzzy blankets and pillows and fairy lights. (Yes, it's enough to rival the likes of the most enthusiastic Pinterest board). While I, unfortunately, don't possess the capability of hibernation, it's here that I feel the most at ease. There's nothing so satisfying like cozying up with a good read, perhaps accompanied by a warm cuppa and the comforting scent of a candle or two.

Plain ol' fiction usually strikes my fancy, however, in recent pursuit of a cleaner, healthier, or otherwise natural lifestyle my bookshelf has been lined with a number of insightful titles of the same variety.

Is your cold-weather book supply a little lacking? Spruce things up with some of these wonderful titles. You'll find yourself drifting away, one crinkled page after another.

The Best Natural Beauty Books

1. An Atlas of Natural Beauty: Botanical Ingredients for Retaining and Enhancing Beauty

This handy atlas features plenty of home beauty recipes, using wholesome ingredients such as seeds, flowers, oils, and more. The gorgeous illustrations alone are enough to keep me invested.

"The perfect gift book from Parisā€™s iconic apothecary Lā€™Officine Universelle Buly captures the elegance and sophistication of the Parisian beauty standard in a beautifully illustrated and detailed guideā€”with easy-to-follow recipesā€”to retaining and enhancing natural beauty."

2. Eat Pretty Every Day

If you're looking to "pretty" up your life, this is just the book for you. Here you'll find guidance in the form of nutrition, mindset, and self-care. Read it all or take it in day-by-day; whatever the case, it's sure to free your beautiful self.

"365 days' worth of radiance-boosting guidance that will help you be your most beautiful self: Breakout hit Eat Pretty continues to win over audiences of all ages with its groundbreaking and user-friendly exploration of beauty nutrition."

3. The Curated Closet

There was a point in time where I would classify my closet as my own personal abyss. The time to sift through my clothes finally came knocking, and it was difficult to discern what was truly needed. The Curated Closet is just the remedy for the problematic collection.

"Is your closet jam-packed and yet you have absolutely nothing to wear? Can you describe your personal style in one sentence? If someone grabbed a random piece from your closet right now, how likely is it that it would be something you love and wear regularly?"

4. Deep Nutrition

Your diet can alter your way of living significantly. With every passing year, the implications of what you're using to fuel your body become more and more pressing. For any person looking for a nutrition makeover, this read is extremely enlightening.

"A self-published phenomenon examining the habits that kept our ancestors disease-freeā€•now with a prescriptive plan for ā€œThe Human Dietā€ to help us all live long, vital, healthy lives."

5. The Big Book of Less: Finding Joy in Living Lighter

"From Flow, a beautiful, mindful guide to having less stuff. Less stress [...] distraction [...] everything."

Negativity is easily caught within clutter, and it can rub off on your own mental health in a major way. Flow's tips make the process of cleansing much less of an ordeal.

6. The Joy of Less: The Minimalist Guide to Declutter, Organize, and Simplify

Like the previous listing, this book provides insight into the world of minimalism. Sometimes it's best to do with lessā€”especially if you find yourself drowning in unnecessary fluff.

"Having less stuff is the key to happiness: Do you ever feel overwhelmed, instead of overjoyed, by all your possessions? Do you secretly wish a gale force wind would blow the clutter from your home? If so, it's time to simplify your life!"

7. Lagom: Not Too Little, Not Too Much: The Swedish Art of Living a Balanced, Happy Life

Wouldn't it be nice to have a bit of balance in your life? Sounds a little too good to be true, but the Swedes have come up with their own method of evening things out.

"Sweden is ranked in the top three of the worldā€™s happiest places to live, and lagom, which means ā€œnot too much and not too littleā€”just right,ā€ is the Swedish philosophy for enjoying balance in every aspect of lifeā€”from work and leisure to family and food, and everything in between."

8. Earth to Table Every Day: Cooking with Good Ingredients Through the Seasons

Cooking with the seasons is the perfect way to honor nature's cycles, as opposed to consuming produce that has been manually ripened. These recipes are great to peruse and plan out your meals as you're cuddled up by the fire.

"Slow Food advocates and accomplished chefs Jeff Crump and Bettina Schormann, effortlessly turn the bounty of the seasons into a stunning collection of approachable everyday recipes."

Happy reading, bookish babesā€”
