How to Effectively Clean and Store Your Beauty Tools

ESTIMATE 2-MINUTES READ

Like any other surface, your beauty tools can come in contact with bacteria, debris, dirt, or other particulates. That's in addition to the makeup or skincare products you used them with. If you aren't cleaning or storing your tools properly, you could be leaving your skin vulnerable. All the good they bring will be counteracted by the nasties who cause irritation, acne, and more. Don't fret! In this post, we'll be discussing how to clean and store your beauty tools. It's simple and well worth it for your skin's health.

Cleaning and Storing Your Beauty Tools

Skincare Tools

Jade Roller, Rose Quartz Roller, and Gua Sha

Woman holding jade roller

Use a soft microfiber cloth to gently wipe down the tool after every use. On occasion, you'll want to use warm, soapy water to hand wash it for a deeper clean. After washing, let the tool air dry. If storing the jade roller, rose quartz roller, or Gua Sha in the fridge, keep it in a baggie to avoid contamination. Otherwise, keep in a dry, well-ventilated area.

Ice Roller

Clean your ice roller with mild soap and water. Make sure you dry it completely before returning it to the freezer. Like the rollers/Gua Sha, you'll want to keep it in a baggie so it doesn't come in contact to other things in your freezer.

Derma Roller

Disinfect your derma roller by letting it soak in alcohol for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse thoroughly. When not in use, keep stored away in the case it comes in.

Konjac Sponges

Rinse your sponge gently after each use under warm running water. Gently squeeze out any excess moisture (don’t twist or be too aggressive), then hang it out to dry in a well-ventilated area. We recommend sterilizing your sponge in boiling water once a week or so to get rid of any bacteria or build-up that could speed up its deterioration or negatively impact your skin’s health.

Makeup Tools

Makeup brushes

Soak the makeup brush with BBE's makeup remover. Swirl in warm water, gently massaging the bristles to rid it of excess debris and particles of makeup. Rinse until clean. Lay flat to dry.

Makeup Sponges

Soak in a combination of BBE makeup remover and warm water for 15-20 minutes. Using your fingers, scrub the makeup sponge. Rinse after each squeeze until the water runs clear.

Once you get the hang of how to clean and store your beauty tools, it's like second nature. And, not only are you paying a favor to your skin, you're also extending the life of your tools. So, set aside those couple of minutes to get the most out of these skincare helpers.

Keep it clean,

Camille
